Homelessness

Parks and public lands have a longstanding, complex history with homelessness. The Institute has begun digging into these challenges with our partners and identifying creative, replicable strategies for park agencies to compassionately engage homeless populations.

From providing resources and training for frontline staff to developing robust partnerships with homeless service providers, we are starting to see park agencies test out new solutions. Yet these proactive approaches are by far the exception. We see an urgent opportunity for the Institute to help park agencies embrace a more thoughtful approach to homelessness in their parks.
